BLUE AIRPLANE

One day a baby saw a big, blue airplane. The baby said, “I want to go for a ride on the big airplane.” She got into the airplane. The airplane did not go. The airplane had no gas in it. They went to look for the baby.
“Come here!” said the mother. The mother got the baby out of the airplane. The mother said, “I will get you a little airplane, baby. No big airplanes for you.”

USING ELECTRICITY

Our homes are full of devices - machines - that run on electricity, but we don't use electricity in our homes only. We need it in schools, hospitals, banks, factories, etc.. Electricity brings us health and comfort. For example, at home we use it for heating electric fires, irons and toasters.

We also use electricity to produce shaft i.e., power that we use to run electric motors. For example, washing machines, refrigerators and mixers use this kind of power. Also vehicles such as subway trains, trolley buses and electric locomotives have motors that run on electricity.

There are also some very special lamps that produce ultraviolet rays and infrared rays. We use both ravs in medical treatments. One of the most valuable and important uses of electricity is in producing X-rays. When we look at an X-ray, we can see the inside of the human body, and in this way the physicians, or doctors, can give a more accurate ; that is, correct, diagnosis of an illness. In other words, when a doctor looks at an X-ray he. can tell you what kind of an illness you have.

My new red scooter can fly! It can go up and it can go down. I ride my scooter everywhere I go. I ride it on the sidewalk and I ride it on the driveway. I ride it to my friend’s house. I like to ride my scooter. My new red scooter has two wheels. They go around and around. My new red scooter can go fast. It can go slow.

My grandpa gave me my new red scooter. He is very nice. I got it for my birthday. It had a big blue bow on it. It is the best present ever!

Spring At The Pond

Gracie was thrilled that warm weather was on the way. She loved her home in the spring. The lily pads were blooming a beautiful color of pink. Gracie’s favorite color was pink. There were butterflies stopping to rest on the lily pads. The butterflies had lovely colors on their wings. The cattails were standing up tall and swaying in the gentle wind. The fish were swimming and jumping in the warm water. Mother Duck would be there soon with her little baby ducks. Gracie sat on her lily pad and thought about how wonderful spring is. She wished everyone could live in a pond.

Bobby s Big Birthday Party

When Bobby turned six, his mom and dad had a birthday party for him. Twenty of his closest friends joined in the party. Everyone wore birthday hats and had birthday cake. The birthday cake was colored blue and white, which are Bobby's favorite colors.

As the day went on, the children played kickball in the back yard. Bobby played first base, Sally played outfield, and Bobby's dad was the pitcher.

At the end of the party, Bobby asked his parents if he could have next year's birthday at the zoo. His parents agreed and everyone cheered.

Little Dragon s Birthday

Once upon a time there lived a little dragon. He lived with his parents in the great woods. Like all dragons, he puffed fire. Little Dragon puffed orange fire. On Little Dragon’s birthday, his mother said, “I’ve made a birthday cake for you. You may run and look for your friends. Tell them to come and have some birthday cake.”
Little Dragon ran into the woods. He found Mouse, Mole, and Turtle there. “It’s my birthday”, he said. “Come and have some birthday cake.” “Thank you,” they answered. “We’d like to come. But tells us something, please. With your breath of fire, how do you blow out your candles?” “Wait and see,” he told them, and they followed Little Dragon to his house. Mother Dragon put the cake on the table. Little Dragon made his wish, and then he blew a big breath of fire. He lit every candle on the cake! “OH,” laughed his friends. “Now we know what dragons do. They don’t blow out the candles. They blow them on!” “That’s what we do,” laughed Little Dragon. “And I got my wish, too.”

RUNNING AWAY FROM TROUBLES

Sixteen years ago, Eileen Doyle's husband, an engineer, kissed his four children early one morning, packed a small case and was never seen or heard of again. Eileen was astonished and was in a state of despair. They had been a happy family and, as far as she knew, there had been nothing wrong with their marriage.

Every day of the year a small group of men and women quietly pack a few belongings and, without a note or a goodbye, close the front door for the last time, leaving their debts, their worries and their confused families behind them. Many return home within a year, but a minority reject the past completely and start living a new life somewhere under a different identity.

For those left behind, this form of desertion is a terrible blow to their pride and self-confidence as they usually tend to blame themselves for the situation. Some say they would prefer to be dead rather than be abandoned like this. Worse than that, people can be left with an unfinished marriage, not knowing whether they will have to wait seven years, as the law says, before they are free to start a fresh life.

Clinical psychologist Paul Brown believes most departures of this kind to be well planned rather than impulsive. "It's typical of the kind of personality which seems to be able to ignore other people's pain and difficulties. Running away, like killing yourself, is a highly aggressive act. By creating an absence, the people left behind are made to feel guilty, upset and empty." According to Bramwell Pratt, head of The Police Investigation

Department, men and women run away for very different reasons though lack of communication is often the biggest motive. 'The things that disturb a man's personality are obscure problems like being tied up in debt, or serious worries about work. Women usually leave for more obvious reasons, with fear at the root of everything. Men are more often prepared to give their marriage another try than women, but we are aware that, for most wives, it would be difficult to return after the way they've been treated.
